ABOUT THE CREATOR OF Dr. Apples, LLC

Lacye A. Brown

Lacye A. Brown was born & raised in Atlanta, GA, USA. She spent her youth moving around various parts of Georgia with her mother. Although a tumultuous time in her life, art was always a healthy outlet for her. It got her through the mental struggles of the financial difficulties of living in the south with a single mother.

Lacye was a gifted student. She often had free time to work on art projects, venture outside or write. During her senior year in elementary school, her teacher, Mrs. Daniels, didn’t feel as though she was being challenged enough. Mrs. Daniels allowed Lacye to finish all of her school work for the day in 2 hours; after that, Lacye spent the remaining part of the day walking on the nature trail and writing her first complete novel.

Although during her youth, Lacye moved at least twice a year around Georgia, she managed to attend the same grade schools throughout. Outside of school were unpredictable times but moments to build her character and resilience. She learned to cook, stand up for herself, and maintain a home alone by the time she was in middle school.

By middle school, Lacye had lived in over 15 locations around Metro Atlanta Ga. From apartments, to couches to a one-bedroom dorm, she endured. While in secondary school, Lacye attempted to portray a “normal” lifestyle but after school and soccer practice, her home was a hotel room with her mother on a rough side of south Atlanta. Nevertheless, she kept a brave face at school.; desiring to have a sense of “normalcy”. By her senior year, she graduated with honors and was able to attend Georgia State University for a few years. She took some time away from school, married and had children; seeking her ideal version of “normalcy” —-her idea of peace.

The marriage was anything but typical and after 8 years, she realized that “normal” isn’t what she wanted nor who she was. Eventually she divorced. She was left alone with a house, 2 car payments, 3 young children, no job or support; one of the lowest rock bottoms of her life. Lacye realized that no one was going to save her. She would need to rescue herself. And she did:

She went from being a stay-at-home mother to working under-the-table at a Prominent Tattoo Parlor to a fortune 500 company within 8 months. This time of uncertainty developed a newfound inner strength and a spiritual awakening for her. Normalcy was a thing of the past; she wanted authenticity.

Through to her corporate job, she had the privilege to travel around the world, learn to trust herself again, become introduced to various cultures, luxuries, grow and expand her intuition via solo travels and have wonderful spiritual experiences: such as meeting a shaman to initiate her into Munay-ki rites, having an Ayahuascha experience, becoming an Usui and Karuna Reiki master, learning about Hoodoo traditions, her African American roots and so forth.

Although grateful, Lacye still didn’t feel satisfied in her life so she abruptly left her corporate job in search for HER authentic way of living. Shortly after quitting, she was invited to participate in a Halloween art show at a local oddities store. She created a 3ft sculpture piece of a Witch Doctor. The idea had been trapped in her mind but she never felt it was the right time to create the piece until that art show.

During the show, people asked about her sculpture’s background but she didn’t have one; not even a name. She decided title the piece, Dr. Apples and wrote a one-page story about him. The one page turned into a novella, then a solo art show with over 35 art dolls and 99 art pieces, an award winning short animated film, an award-winning fictional podcast, a tv pilot with a universe and folklore to tell the world.

Through the Dr. Apples universe, Lacye is able to infuse her creativity, life experiences, and knowledge of the esoteric world to the masses through her love language, art.

After becoming her authentic self, Lacye has no desire to ever be “normal”.
